My good buddy, Bryan over at Nine Bullets, has one of the greatest radio shows around and each week, I do my best to listen in. If you dig the music that Suburban Home puts out, I recommend you take a listen and tune in every week. Info below:

Most of the time you go to the station, do your show and leave. It becomes a routine of sorts. Occasionally you do a show that you really feel good about. Last night was one such show. Not sure what it is that sets some apart from the rest but whatever it is, last night’s has it.

I opened the show with a Lumineers, Mastersons, The District Attorneys set I’d been thinking about doing for a few weeks but wasn’t sure how it would go over with the listeners. While the middle of the show features a brand new Gaslight Anthem track as well as a set featuring some of the bands I am looking forward to seeing at next week’s Tropical Heatwave. Finally, on a whim I decided to close the show with a track from the new OFF! album. That’s probably what put the show over the top for me.

Sound like the good stuff? Then go put some ears on the archived stream of the show.

Below is the playlist for May 03, 2012

01. Otis Gibbs – The People’s Day
02. The Lumineers – Ho Hey
03. The Mastersons – You Don’t Know
04. The District Attorneys – Worry About Your Health
05. The Gaslight Anthem – 45
06. Tin Horn Prayer – Stumble
07. Damion Suomi – Ghost
08. Greenland Is Melting – No Matter What You See
09. Have Gun Will Travel – To The Victor Goes The Spoils
10. Matt Woods – Beating Down My Door
11. JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound – Want More
12. Joeseph Huber – Iron Rail
13. Steep Canyon Rangers – Between Midnight and The Dawn
14. Hurray for The Riff Raff – Born To Win (Part One)
15. OFF! – Feelings Were Meant To Be Hurt

Bold = Request

Ninebullets Radio on Facebook
You can stream Ninebullets Radio here
You can download Ninebullets Radio here
If you like Ninebullets Radio please drop a 5 spot in the Tip Jar.

P.S.: If you like this show, do me a favor and post about it on your Facebook/Twitter/Blog. It’ll do a lot to help these bands reach new ears…and in the end, that’s what this is all about. It’ll also help bring the existence of the radio show to more people’s attention & the more people there are listening/paying attention to the show the more likely it is to stay on the air.

Episode 70: aired 05.03.2012

Listening to 9 Bullets radio is a ritual here in Friday mornings; I’m currently listening to the latest episode which is also a fundraiser. I just sent in some funds to help support one of the best radio shows in the nation; hope you consider doing so too. Excited to hear new songs by Alone at 3AM, Tim Barry, and Cory Branan. Thanks Nine Bullets / Bryan.

Man. The first show after a marathon show is always so nice and relaxed. I played a lot of brand new music in between all the chatter, whining and begging that makes up a marathon show and I was afraid a lot of people may have missed it so I tried to get a lot of it back into last night’s show. Speaking of marathon, I would like to say that by Friday afternoon last week the show had met (and exceeded) it’s goal. So, props to all of y’all for that.

Now, about this week’s show. Late yesterday afternoon I saw that Levon had passed so I decided to bookend the show with him as a form of tribute. In between we got brand new songs from Will Quinlan & The Diviners, Joe Pug, Alone At 3AM, Tim Barry, The Only Sons and plenty more as well as an all requests segment of the show. All in all, I think the show turned out pretty strong and I would highly suggest you spend an hour of your day checking out the archived stream of it.

Below is the playlist for April 19, 2012

01. Todd Farrell – Ninebullets Radio Intro
02. Levon Helm – Wide River To Cross
03. Joe Pug – Neither Do I Need A Witness
04. Will Quinlan & the Diviners – Cuyahoga River Blues
05. Fifth On The Floor – Distant Memory Lane
06. Alone At 3AM – Wolf In The Woods
07. Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires – The Red, Red Dirt Of Home
08. Don Auber – Smoke & Steam
09. Larry & His Flask – Beggars Will Ride
10. Dinero – Some People Push Back
11. The Only Sons – The Natural
12. Middle Brother – Million Dollar Bill
13. Lauderdale – Drink To Sleep
14. Tim Barry – Fine Foods Market
15. The Band – The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down

Bold = Request

Last night’s show was the marathon show and Ninebullets Radio fell incredibly short of it’s goal. At the end of the show we were still $435 short of our $1600 goal. It’s always nice to meet the goal while on the air but it’s not too late. If you want to help close the gap please follow this linkand contribute to the show. Every little bit helps and right now, we need your help.

On another marathon note….Ninebullets Radio did raise $1165 dollars last night and, at least to a poor man like me, that’s nothing to scoff at. I wanna thank everyone who called in or contributed to the show via the web. It’s because of people like you that community radio survives and (at times) thrives in the cultural wasteland that is the airwaves.

It may have been marathon and there may have been a shit ton of talking but stuck in between all those words and worries was some pretty damn good music. We’re talking brand new songs from Will Quinlan, Cory Branan, Tim Barry, Joe Pug and Alone At 3AM. Not to shabby for a marathon show if I do say so myself so you’ll probably wanna check out that archived stream of the show.
