If you are not familiar with any of the artists, you can pretty much listen to every artist in our Listening Station.

Our friends, the Fasano brothers, will be starting things off each night in the basement of 3 Kings Tavern at 7pm. Shows will start at 8pm each night. Our anniversary weekend is less than 3 weeks away. Out of towners, have you purchased your plane tickets? Have you purchased tickets for the show? I believe that Paper and Plastick are accepting pre-orders now for the CD version of the new album, but in early September (date to be announced), we (Suburban Home/VC) along with Paper and Plastick will be posting pre-orders for the Gamits’ new album on vinyl, CD, and digitally. Here is a breakdown of the first pressing for Parts:

“plaid mix” – blue, white, red and black mixed x 200 (I think this will be the SH/VC/Gamits exclusive color)

Today, I am very proud to announce that Lizzie Huffman is joining our 15th Anniversary line up. This will be Lizzie’s first time to Denver so please help us give her a warm welcome during the celebrations. At the bottom of this post, I have put a streaming player so you can listen to the 10″ we released for Lizzie Huffman. I am really excited, this will actually be my first time seeing her play.

There will be a number of artists showing off their goods down in the basement of 3 Kings over the entire weekend. I will be posting an announcement of all the artists involved tomorrow.

Saturday, September 11th during the day, we are organizing a Hangover Brunch at the Lobby and then a brewery tour that will more than likely include Great Divide, Wynkoop, Oskar Blues, Avery, and maybe Upslope. Details to be announced soon.

Sunday, September 12th BBQ/Washers Tournament/Acoustic Sets at The Park – we’ll cook food, drink beer, play washers (and stump), and we’ll have some of the Suburban Home family doing an old-fashioned hootenanny. More than likely we will do things at Berkeley Park, but we are working out the details.

If you are from out of town, make sure you book your tickets soon. I just bought tickets from Seattle to Denver and was surprised at how nice the prices were. While I’ll be the first to admit that it has been decades since I have picked up an issue of Filed and Stream, I have to tell you that it was pretty special for me when Coody (of Ninja Gun) sent me a link to a video on Field and Stream that featured “Eight Miles Out” by Ninja Gun. Little did I know that the cats at Field and Stream like the rock music. The song is featured during a BBQ section of the video at about 3:15. Field and Stream, thanks for putting Ninja Gun in your video; you really need to do a feature on Chuck Ragan though; he is one of the most avid fishermen I know who is out there playing music. And man, what about that video of Jon Snodgrass singing “Catfish Noodling”?

Ninja Gun will soon be embarking on a tour with Murder by Death. You can listen to their album, “Restless Rubes” in our Listening Station.

Micah Schnabel of Two Cow Garage is doing a week-long tour down to the South and back to Ohio and needs help filling a few dates. Please take a look down at the dates and if you know of a show going on that he can jump on OR can help put something together, please drop Micah an email. If you have seen him live before, you know this is one of the greatest shows; if you haven’t seen him live, you have to help make this happen in your town. I really appreciate everyone helping out and I assure you Micah blow you away. And if there is a town near you that he is already playing, please mark one of the dates on your calendar.

I have to say that when I saw that Ninja Gun were on this tour, I could not be happier. Ninja Gun met Murder By Death when both acts were on tour with The Gaslight Anthem this past September. You should all know that I am a big, big, big fan of Murder By Death. I love their new album, I love the people in the band, and I am so excited that this tour is happening. I do wish the dates were taking this tour out to Colorado, but the last 2 tours that brought Ninja Gun to Colorado were cut short (Leatherface and Fake Problems’ tours were both canceled before they made them my way). I might have to see if I can find a cheap flight and join them for a bit.

That’s right, not only are the Gamits coming back into our lives with their first show in over 5 years on Friday, August 6th (at the Bluebird Theater), we are having a Happy Hour/Pre-party at Lost Lake before the show. We figured that before we head over to the Bluebird to see what will be an incredible show, we could all have a few drinks at more affordable prices. Not only that, but we will be playing the Gamits’ new album, “Parts” in its entirety for all to hear. And we will end the pre-party by doing a Car Bomb (a shot that is half a pint of Guinness with a shot consisting of Jameson Irish Whiskey and Bailey’s Irish Cream that you drop into the beer). This was our shot of choice when the Gamits were active and we figured we would bring it back. Here is how everything will go down:

When: Friday, August 6th starting at 5pm
Where: Lost Lake Lounge, 3602 E. Colfax Ave (right down and across the street from the Bluebird)
What: Pre-party, hang out session, and album listening party
Times: Starts at 5pm, We will begin listening to The Gamits’ new album, “Parts”, at 7pm, and we will all do a mass Car Bomb at 8:17pm (get your orders in early so that the bartenders can line em up); we will then make our way to show which starts at 9pm.

I hope to see every single one of you out for the Pre-party and the show. It is gonna be epic. Can you imagine having 50 people doing Car Bombs all at the same time?

I am so glad that someone caught this performance on video. I was there and was pretty psyched to see The Gaslight Anthem and Tim Barry covering a song that I absolutely love, Lucero’s “The War”. I had heard they were playing this on the tour and am glad they played it at the show in Denver. Now, I wonder if we could get these guys to record this in the studio as I have a friend who has been working on a Lucero tribute for years. Hmmmm. Either way, watch the video; it is great.
