With SXSW less than one month away, I think everyone is getting really excited, making their schedules, and a few close friends have even posted Podcasts/Playlists.

NINEBULLETS.NET FEBRUARY PODCAST: SxSW EDITION

I am currently listening to Nine Bullet’s latest podcast, one that was inspired by the bands they hope to see at this year’s SXSW. It sounding pretty damn good. Along with Suburban Home acts, Micah Schnabel and Austin Lucas, there are excellent tracks by Drive By Truckers, Lucero, Joe Pug, Glossary, American Aquarium, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, and lots more. I know for a fact that I will be doing a lot of hanging with the Nine Bullets crew, I am bummed though that I will be missing their SXSW party on Wednesday night as I get in really late that night. You can download the podcast here. I personally subscribe to their podcast feed so that whenever a new one is posted, it downloads into my Itunes.

F*ck You, It’s Friday! – Playlist 31

While listening to the Nine Bullets podcast, I downloaded the latest “Fuck You It’s Friday” playlist from Front Porch Musings. As you might have read, we were invited to help host a SXSW party with the good folks at Front Porch Musings, and this week’s FYIF playlist features tracks from our upcoming party. Consider it a preview of what you can expect at our party with tracks by Two Cow Garage, Look Mexico, Austin Lucas, The Only Sons, State Champion, Glossary, and American Aquarium. It should be a great listen. One complaint Front Porch Musings: Where’s the Micah Schnabel track? and I’m not sure how to best remedy this, but when I download the playlists in Itunes, it is hard to track and group all the songs on the playlist since it keeps all the info associated from the track in your Itunes. Maybe consider changing the album name or grouping with the name Front Porch Musings, that way, we can easily have the songs in one place. I guess that was 2 complaints (my bad). You can download the playlist here.

I am considering making a mixtape with tracks from our upcoming SXSW party and other SXSW artists that we are excited to see and handing them out at our party. Whether or not you are going to SXSW, I highly recommend you listen to these podcasts/playlists.

Last week, we got an email from Hugo regarding an LP that they were self-releasing and we were so excited about the release, we asked if we could sell it in the Vinyl Collective Store. Fast forward less than one week and we are nearly sold out of the Green vinyl of “Chasers”. Currently, we have 3 copies left. We asked if we could stream some songs from the release and we just got final versions of 4 songs including their cover of Against Me “Sink Florida Sink”. I love the entire release and encourage everyone to pick up this album. Not only is the record a 9 song LP, but it has an mp3 coupon that will enable you to download the 9 songs on the LP and 10 bonus live, rare, hard to find tracks. We should the vinyl in March.

Our good buddy, Ronen Kauffman, sat down with Suburban Home’s Joey Cape and Jon Snodgrass when the two were on tour late last year. It’s a great interview that foreshadows Joey’s decision to release his new album in a different way than he originally planned. There is also the first stab at the soon to be hit by Jon Snodgrass, “Spiderman, Wolfman”. The full song has been recorded for a split LP by Jon Snodrass and Joey Cape which will be released on CD on Joey’s own label and on vinyl through us. Thanks Ronen for sitting down with Joey and Jon. Everyone, please check this out. Issue Oriented is the best podcast out there and this episode will show you why.

From Issue Oriented:
Host Ronen Kauffman welcomes JOEY CAPE (Lagwagon, Bad Astronaut) and JON SNODGRASS (Drag The River) for a chat about sadness, money, regionalism and much more. Joey and Jon also
perform two songs live in the Issue Oriented studio!

Then Ronen talks to FREDDY CRICIEN (Madball, Hazen Street) to talk about politics, religion, and the release of his new hip hop album Catholic Guilt.

Ninja Gun just posted a demo version of “Roman Nose” on their Myspace page; the final version of the song and 3 others will be released soon as a 4 song 7″ via Sabot Productions. The song is quite a bit different than what you would expect after listening to “Restless Rubes”, but it will be interesting to hear what the final version sounds like.

Ninja Gun are also preparing for their first tour of Europe. What happens when you send 4 boys from Valdosta to Germany, Switzerland, The U.K., and Netherlands? It’s definitely a good question. I expect Coody and the rest of Ninja Gun will enlighten the European audiences with a little bit of Southern culture. I a really excited for the guys as this has always been a goal of theirs. Gunner Records will be releasing “Restless Rubes” in Europe in time for the tour.

As you may or may not know, we at Suburban Home like having the ability to offer our albums as full album streams so that you can listen to our releases before deciding to purchase them. We also like the idea that anyone can post our streaming player on their blog, myspace page, or pretty much any site that allows html to be used. We are excited to post the full album stream of Tim Barry’s newest album, “28th & Stonewall”. We ask you to please give it a listen and if you are so inclined, please share the stream with others. As a very small, indie label, we don’t have the resources bigger labels have and appreciate any word of mouth our streams may help facilitate. Thanks for checking out the album and thanks for sharing.

As anyone knows who keeps up with our blog, we are big fans of the cats at Nine Bullets. They recently posted their latest podcast and as always, it is a great listen, one we highly recommend checking out. This episode features “Memento Mori” by Tim Barry alongside tracks by Drive By Truckers, Justin Townes Earle, I Can Lick Any Son of a Bitch In Town, Joe Pug, The Fox Hunt, Glossary, and more. Below is the track listing. Autopsy, the host of the podcast, does a great job of discussing the artists and tracks in between songs, but he does mention that he is unable to drink due to health issues. Everything alright buddy? Check out the podcast at this link. Thanks Nine Bullets as always for the support.
