Suburban Home 15th Anniversary Beer Tour Bus Spot Reservation – $20.00

While I still have a few more details to iron out, I have just booked the Charter Bus for Suburban Home Records 15th Annivesary Craft Beer Tour. While the folks at Colorado Charter Lines could not confirm that we will be getting the bus in the above photograph, the bus will look a lot like this. The bus seats 55 people and I am hoping that most of you will consider joining us. Due to the high expense of renting the bus, the cost of getting a seat on the bus will be $20 per person. I know, that is very pricey, but not only will you be safely driven to 4 breweries and 1 distillery, our friends at the Wynkoop will be supplying beers for all to drink during the beer tour.

Here is a breakdown of how things will be laid out:

• Hangover Brunch at 10am (yes, I know that is early) at the Lobby
• Great Divide Brewery
• Wynkoop Brewery
• Oskar Blues Brewery
• Avery Brewery
• Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey Distillery

I am still ironing out the times for each place and trying to get each brewery/distillery to give us a tour. I will warn everyone about a hundred times to please watch how much they drink. Especially you out of towners, drinking in Denver is a lot different than drinking in a town with little to no elevation. Being a mile high makes drinking have that much more of an affect on you. I really hope people don’t get so drunk they are time traveling during our show that night.

Warnings aside, this is going to be an amazing day. We will be doing the tour from around noon to 6pm and I am working on having the Bus take folks back to the hotel that most of us are staying at. I think I will have Avery in boulder be our last stop so that some people can nap back to Denver. Expect final details soon, but please reserve your spot now. I would hate to see you miss out on such a great time.

Book TownPlace Suites Denver for Suburban Home Records’ 15th Anniversary [special rate]

I just got the discount code for what is probably the closest hotel to 3 Kings Tavern where most of the festivities will occur during Suburban Home Records’ 15th Anniversary weekend. 3 Kings Tavern is on 60 south broadway which is a few blocks south of 1st and Broadway. The hotel is pretty much at 6th and broadway. It’s a pretty good walk, but the cab fare is only like $6.00. I think the rate might be a little more than last year, but at $69 per night, it isn’t a bad deal (Considering what you get: a Queen Bed, a Sofa Bed, a Kitchen, a desk and free wifi, and plenty of room to hang out). A number of you stayed here last year and it seemed to me that most people were stoked on the lodging.

I highly recommend you book a room now as you won’t have to pay for the room until you checkout. The prices are good from September 9th through September 13th in case you come in early or stay late. There are only like a dozen rooms blocked out so far so act fast. If all the rooms get booked, I think I can get more rooms but it will depend on availability. Book now though so you don’t miss out on this good deal.

I’ve slowly been getting around contacting the Suburban Home family to see who is coming out for Suburban Home’s 15th Anniversary weekend. While we have gotten a few No’s, we have gotten some AOk’s. Sunday, September 12th BBQ/Washers Tournament/Acoustic Sets at The Park – we’ll cook food, drink beer, play washers (and stump), and we’ll have some of the Suburban Home family doing an old-fashioned hootenanny. More than likely at Washington Park, but we are working out the details.

We are so excited to announce the soft launch of the Vinyl Collective Marketplace. Before shutting down our online store, we had offered a Used Vinyl section where anyone could sell their records alongside the other records we had available for sale. When we decided to shut down our online store, we thought about the possibility of setting up a Marketplace where anyone could sell pretty much anything. I recognized the problems with the Used Vinyl Store we had set up which all revolved around a really poorly planned way of uploading items, sending out statements, and handling used sales’ payments. We talked to our friends at LimitedPressing.com and told them what we were hoping to put together. The good folks at Limited Pressing did such an amazing job putting together the Vinyl Collective Marketplace and we hope you will consider selling your records and other items here. Here are some of the things you can do with the Vinyl Collective Marketplace:

• Create product listings where you can post product info, price, and upload images. You can also set the shipping prices to each territory where you are shipping to.
• Once you set up your account with your paypal address, you get paid immediately for the records sold to your paypal account. This is important because a. you get paid immediately and b. if the buyer has a problem with the seller, they can work directly with the seller to resolve any possible issues.
• Vinyl Collective and Limited Pressing do not take a percentage for your sales in our marketplace. Paypal takes their usual fees, but you won’t pay anything to list or sell your items otherwise. This might change in the future, but for the foreseeable future, you won’t pay any fees other than the fees Paypal take out.

It really doesn’t get more simple than this to list and sell your items. For our marketplace, we didn’t want to limit items to just vinyl because we figured some of you vinyl collectors might have CDs collecting dust that you want to sell to raise money to buy more records. Same goes for books, posters, t-shirts, and more. We figured that when you sell your items to record stores, you don’t typically get a good deal. With the Vinyl Collective Marketplace, you get whatever price you set.

Labels, I highly recommend you listing your items, too. List new records, list test pressings, list posters, or what have you; consider this another option to raise funds to press new releases.

I have listed a handful of records, CDs, and a Cassette, but I plan to list a lot more soon. I highly recommend you check it out and start selling your goods.

Andy and I were discussing future volumes of Suburban Home Records’ Mix Tapes and he had a fantastic idea, probably his best idea since he suggested Root Beer Floats last Summer. The idea is to take submissions from bands that have tracks that would fit on our Mix Tape. Our next Mix Tape will be inspired by I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch In the House’s upcoming album, “The Sounds of Dying”. If your band has a song that you think would fit on our next Mix Tape, email a link to the song or attach an mp3 to Andy with the subject SON OF A BITCH MIX TAPE SUBMISSION. We will be selecting 2 tracks to go on this next mix tape. If you know of a band that should be on our next Mix Tape, please tell them to email a track to Andy.

• I am working closely with Interpunk to reconsider how they calculate postage; I have them already working on changing how they calculate postage on international orders with 2 or more records. There will be other changes soon.
• If you placed an order with Vinyl Collective, we will be shipping your order. If you subscribed to our Under the Influence 7″ series, we will fulfill those orders.
• If you have a credit or gift certificate that wasn’t completely used, get in touch with us. We are working with Interpunk to have those credits transferred.
• We are also working with Interpunk to switch over our VC Club Cards so that you can get 10 percent off on your future orders with Interpunk.
• I have been told by a few people that we should talk to Interpunk about accepting Paypal payments, I will bring it up in our next conversation.

We are excited to announce that effective May 1st 2010, Interpunk.com will begin handling order fulfillment for Suburban Home Records and Vinyl Collective. More specifically, Interpunk will warehouse Suburban Home/Vinyl Collective releases, and handle shipping and customer service needs for all our online orders, as well as for stores and distributors.

This partnership with Interpunk will allow Suburban Home and Vinyl Collective to focus on putting out more quality releases, to focus on promoting Suburban Home Records, to dedicate more time to the Vinyl Cooperative, and to make the Vinyl Collective site fun again. While we have enjoyed handling our own mailorder, we also realize how much time will be freed up by having Interpunk handle this for us.

Suburban Home has been selling its releases to Interpunk for as long as we can remember. We have always held them in the highest regard as a retailer and a business partner. It just made so much sense to work more closely with them.

This announcement may have you asking more questions than were answered, but here are a few points worth noting:

• The Vinyl Collective Blog and Message Board will of course continue, and be more active than it has ever been.
• Suburban Home Records and Vinyl Collective will get back to focusing on what we do best… putting out fantastic releases!
• Any orders and pre-orders placed prior to Saturday, May 1st, 2010 on our web store will still be shipped by us.
• Starting May 1st, 2010, all orders and pre-orders should be placed directly at Interpunk.com. Orders can be placed 24 hours a day and will ship the same or next busines day. Most customer service issues can be handled yourself on Interpunk’s website, plus they are available to answer questions by phone Monday – Friday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time Zone.

We will provide direct links to our items in the Interpunk store on May 1st, 2010.
