Tim Barry
If you would have told me years ago when I went to go see Avail that one day, I would be working with Tim Barry, Avail’s front man, I would have called you crazy. When I first heard news that Tim had recorded a demo of solo songs, I checked out a few tunes and immediately bought the burned CDr that he was hocking on his myspace page. I absolutely loved the demos and figured I would let Tim know. I also mentioned that although I was sure that there were a number of labels interested in releasing his debut album that I would like to put my name in the hat of interested parties. Much to my surprised, Tim emailed me back and said to give him a call because he hated computers. We talked and talked some more. We discussed his solo music, our bands that he knew, and what he was looking for in a label. Throughout these conversations, I must have said something right because Tim agreed to do an album with me. My father always said that, “Even the Sun Shines on a Dog’s Ass every once in a while” and in this situation, that saying could not be more perfect when describing my luck in hooking up with Tim. To say that I am honored to be able to work with Tim is an understatement. He is the perfect artist for a label. Before we even discussed recording his debut album, he already had the studio planned out, the graphic artist to lay out his album, the publicist to work his record, and the photographer to take band photos. His debut alubm, “Rivanna Junction” is the perfect record for Country fans, Punk fans, and anyone that appreciates honest music with heart. Tim is the real deal and if you ever go see him perform, you will wonder why all artists don’t have half the charisma and charm that he does.
