This Friday, June 19th, Stereotyperider are playing their final show EVER in Denver. When the band originally announced their final show ever, I pushed them hard to play a final Denver date and luckily, they agreed. The show will be epic as not only are Stereotyperider playing, but 3 great locals will round out the bill (Only Thunder, Taun Taun, and Mustangs and Madras). The show will be bittersweet, but at least we will have the opportunity to see an incredible band play one more show. If you are anywhere near Denver, I urge you to see this show.
When: Friday, June 19th
Where: Larimer Lounge
Who: Stereotyperider’s last Denver show w/ Taun Taun, Only Thunder, and Mustangs and Madras
What: A nice sendoff for one of Phoenix’s finest rock bands
I feel as though Stereotyperider released their most incredible album of their career with “Songs in the Keys of F and U”. As I was riding my bike home yesterday rocking the album, it made me think about all of the great bands out there who just never got their due. I like to say that Stereotyperider should have been received in a much bigger way, but the same could be said of so many other bands. My personal connection to the band and their music obviously makes me biased. I also wonder if our heavy involvement with alt-country/roots music may have hurt the possibility for this record to get heard. THIS IS A ROCK RECORD through and through; listen to the stream below and share it if you dig it. I think that if No Idea or Second Nature had released this record, the band could have connected with more fans. Take a listen and let us know what you think:
By the way, here is what Rock Sound said of the album in a recent review, “That they managed to produce a rather fine album full of energy and vigour speaks volumes about their love for hard grafters such as Jawbreaker and Alkaline Trio, their sound taking its cues from the earlier period of both band’s careers. Fans of driving guitar lines, fuzzy bass and strained, off-kilter vocal cries will not be diappointed in the slightest. FOR FANS OF : Jawbreaker, Hot Water Music, Alkaline Trio, Small Brown Bike” (Rocksound issue #123, 8/10)
