Maybe it’s because I am on my third beer at my favorite coffee shop (Common Grounds in Highlands drinking 1554 by New Belgium in case you’re curious), but I am so absolutely stoked that we will be putting out Ninja Gun’s second album, Restless Rubes. Ninja Gun call Valdosta, Georgia home and as Coody (Johnathan Coody, singer of Ninja Gun) once told me, he is the son of a South Georgian pig farmer. Something about that just hit home with me, that and Ninja Gun are the best band with the worst name you have yet to hear. If I had to pick 3 bands to throw in a blender to begin to describe their sound, I would combine the Shins, My Morning Jacket, and Band of Horses. I welcome you to stop by the band’s myspace page to hear a few songs.
The funny thing about Ninja Gun is that until yesterday, we had never spoke on the phone and only corresponded by email. Yesterday, I spoke with Coody for about an hour and we talked about music, bands these days, the scene in Valdosta, GA, and I gathered from my conversation with him that we will have a great time hanging out when they come to Colorado. Speaking of, the band are booking a tour from Georgia to California to the Northwest then back home. If you see any gaps in their tour, please drop them a line and help them get a show or two.
The band are finishing the mixing and will soon be mastering their new album. We plan to release “Restless Rubes” on June 24th, 2008, the same day we will be releasing LaGrecia’s debut album, “On Parallels”. This will be a big day for Suburban Home. Please stop what you are doing and lend an ear to Ninja Gun, you will be glad that you did.
