Joey Cape discusses the Playing Favorites album, release show, and other projects

I gave Joey Cape a phone call yesterday and he was kind enough to discuss the origins of the Playing Favorites, the process behind the recording of “I Remember When I Was Pretty”, their upcoming album release show, and all the musical projects Joey Cape is involved with. Without spoiling anything, I discovered a few bits of information, I did not know about Joey and about the Playing Favorites.

In the coming weeks, I will be calling the other members of the Playing Favorites and posting our conversations here.

To recap, the Playing Favorites are the latest members of the Suburban Home family. The band counts Joey Cape (from Lagwagon / Bad Astronaut) as a member of the band as well as folks from Sugarcult, the Penfifteen Club, and Summercamp. We are releasing their debut album “I Remember When I Was Pretty” on December 4th on vinyl and on CD. If you pre-order the album through us, we will send you the entire album digitally 2 weeks prior to street date on November 20th. The band will have at least one album release show on Friday, December 7th, at the Viper Room.

I am about as excited as one can get about releasing an album. It is an honor for me to be able to work with such a talented band and I am still pinching myself that I get to put this album out.

Here are 2 mp3s to check out after you listen to the phone call. Thanks Joey for taking the time to speak about the Playing Favorites.
