Pastepunk checks in with Ghost Buffalo

Our pals at Pastepunk were kind enough to check in with Ghost Buffalo. Matt Bellinger of GB talks about lineup changes, his recent marriage to Marie Litton (singer of GB), and their plans for the future. I am really excited to say that Ghost Buffalo are about to start getting active again and we could not be happier. I saw them play with Tim Barry the last time Tim was through and watching them play was a reminder of incredibly talented this band is and how it would be a shame if they did not move forward. You can listen to Ghost Buffalo’s album in our listening station.

We are Moving the Suburban Home Offices This Weekend

Today, we packed up most of the office and over the weekend, we will be making our big move into my house. It should be a pretty grueling weekend, but I hope it goes smoothly.

I hope to be back and running by Tuesday. Any orders placed over the weekend won’t be shipped out until Tuesday. Thanks for your patience.
Have a nice weekend. Hopefully you all are doing something better than moving boxes.

Drunk Dial – Ben Nichols from Lucero, not really

“I’ve had 2 good times on this tour and this is one of them” 4/20/07 4:42 am, Portland, OR  – So I saw Dave Barker from Drag and Mark Gallant, Drag’s Tour manager on this past tour, and we did a lot of talking about the tour with Rocky Votolato. After their Portland show, the guys got nice and drunk and they decided to make a few drunk dials. Mark, the tour manager, does a mean Ben Nichols impression and he put it to the test in this drunk dial. What do you think? He even left the real Ben Nichols a drunk dial voicemail which Ben later called to say was pretty funny. If you want a nice drunk dial from someone who sounds a lot like Ben Nichols, let me know; I might be able to arrange it. Now I wonder if I could get Mark into a studio to record an album on Suburban Home! Now that would be hot! Rocky Votolato and Dave Barker are laughing in the background.

Drunk Dial – from the 641 Bitches

“I have had a few unsuccessful drunk dials” 4/2/07 1:39 a.m. – hannah of Suburban Home calls all the time. The thing is, she often breaks the momentum of the drunk dial by passing the phone around which usually kills the vibe. She calls this particular night to say that her and the 641 bitches (maybe her roommates) were rocking some Mariah Carey and they wanted to sing a little something for the hotline. Enjoy! If I am not mistaken, I think I hear Seabron screaming in the background right before the singing begins.

My Thoughts on File-Sharing, Peer to Peer, Copying

If you were ever interested in the perspective of a small, indie label in regards to file-sharing and illegal downloading, just click the link to s post I made on IndieHQ. I realize that having these opinions won’t make me very popular, but I feel that if you find a band or release or label that you love, it shouldn’t be too much to ask for support. With Suburban Home, you can buy any 5 of our releases for $25.00 and at $5.00 per album, we can eek out a living and pay our acts if we can get enough people to support this.

File-sharing and Peer to Peer hurts record sales and indie labels. Please understand that getting records for free does have its cost.

Drunk Dial – Win tickets to see Megadeath!

“94.3 point 3 the fake-ass radio station from Seattle” 4/2/07 2:18 a.m. – This caller calls as if he is the DJ on some radio station giving away tickets to see Megadeath! Damn, i would have loved to see Megadeath. He says that he has denied you from winning tickets and that you probably wouldn’t have answered the 3 physics questions correctly anyways.

Happy Earth Day / Happy Birthday Kyle Pedersen

We here at Suburban Home wanted to wish everyone an early Happy Earth Day! This Sunday, April 22nd, we hope you take the little extra time to think about our planet we call home!

Every little bit helps! Ride a bike, use less water, pick up some trash, don’t leave that light on…reduce, reuse, and recycle! Heck, volunteer in your community. Drink a Fat Tire, and then recycle that bottle!

It is also Kyle of Suburban Home’s birthday. I am scheduling this post ahead of time so by the time this posts, Kyle will be 25 years old and pretty hungover as there was a big party in Kyle’s honor the night before. Happy birthday buddy!

State of the Union Volume 3

For those of you not familiar with my State of the Union posts, from time to time, I write about the many things circling in my head which often involve my small indie label, Suburban Home, my vinyl-only online store/vinyl imprint(Vinyl Collective), my blog site IndieHQ, and life in general. These posts are often very, very long so I don’t blame you if you skip them all together. For those of you who decide to read, there is usually quite a bit of insider information as it pertains to my small endeavors. For whatever that’s worth. Click the link if you feel like reading:
