Have you ever had one of those mornings?

Alright friends, you know that I am not one to bitch and moan, but I have had a rough morning. My son, Logan, has had a cold for the past 10 days and he has not been sleeping well. When he doesn’t sleep well, guess what? i don’t sleep well. Last night was the 3rd night in a row with very little sleep. I actually woke up at 2:30 am and decided to read the book that I am reading. I read for 3 hours and decide to take a “nap”. The nap lasts til around 7am when I decide to get up and start my day. On my way to work, the Thai food I ate the night before takes its toll on my bowels and it takes every ounce of strength and will power to not shit my pants on my drive to work. I think about possible scenarios and my frantic drive turns desperate. I finally make it to work after running red lights, speeding in school zones, and doing everything I can to break my record to get to work. I run up the stairs and head straight to the bathroom and narrowly avoided a disaster. While finishing up in the bathroom, my wife calls me to tell me that my son has a rash and the doctor’s office needs him to come in immediately to check for possible allergic reaction to the antibiotics he is on. Because of this emergency I forgo the morning coffee I usually get so I can meet my family at the doctor’s office. We are forced to wait an extraordinary amount of time at the office to find out that Logan is in fact not responding well to his antibiotics. He gets prescribed more antibiotics and some anti-histamines to clear up his rash. My wife and son head home, I go to the nearest coffee shop to order the largest Latte they have. I head into office cracked out of my mind from the lack of sleep. We at Suburban Home go out to lunch every Friday and we had planned to go to Tom’s Home Cooking, a favorite of everyone’s especially me. Someone tells us that they are closed for vacation and the thought of eating there was seriously what was getting me through the morning.

I had a choice to make. I could either let the first half of the day’s events ruin my afternoon or I could chalk it up to a bad morning and get through the rest of the day. I chose the latter, had a great lunch with the staff outside in the beautiful sunny day, and Hannah just handed me a beer(a Newcastle)! The day is already looking better and I plan on hitting a happy hour with some college buddies as we all plan to go see the Denver Nuggets play the Detroit Pistons. I am not a big sports’ fan, but I am looking forward to seeing some friends I don’t get to see as often as I would like. I also just got an offer from Nick Storch (booking agent) for Tim Barry to open an upcoming William Elliott Whitmore tour. I called Tim and he is going to let me know on Monday. i am crossing my fingers as this would be a huge break for Tim!

Here’s hoping that everyone else has had a better morning than I had and hope that everyone has a killer weekend!
