“It’s In a Book” 3/2/07 1:12 a.m. 720 area code
I listened to these two drunk dials and I really had no idea who LeVar Burton and Reading Rainbow were. I think I may be a bit too old to have experienced this as a youth. I thought the calls were solid drunk dials, but it wasn’t til I mentioned the calls to my staff that I realized that everyone at a certain age knew exactly who LeVar and Reading Rainbow were. The callers called to mention that LeVar (they call him Levar Harrington on the first call) is gay and that they were told that it’s in a book so he has been reading ever since. The 2nd call, they correct their earlier mistake and refer to him as Levar Burton and the female caller breaks out in song. Good stuff.
