An Email from a Suburban Home supporter

From time to time, I have posted favorable reviews of our bands, but today I would like to share with you a really rad email from a Suburban Home supporter. As much as music reviews are nice, it is so much rewarding hearing from actual music fans. Lee Roehrig has become one of our biggest supporters. He made a Dead Format Mix CD as well as contributed to our Absolutely Essential albums on Dead Format. Lee just wrote an email after receiving his pre-order for the Drag the River “Closed” and Love Me Destroyer “The Things Around us Burn” CDs. It is a rather long email so you will need to click the link to read the entire email. It is a great read. Thanks Lee for all of your support. Your email was a great way to start my Tuesday:

Wow. That’s all I can say. I’ve had the new Love Me Destroyer and Drag The River cds for about a week and I’m blown away. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite DTR cd but you’re right “Closed” has tons of gems on it. Again I kick myself for not listening to the band earlier but I’ll make up for lost time for sure. Chad Price has always been underrated as a vocalist and I hope that people will start giving him all the credit he deserves. It seems to me a lot of people always focus on the Descendents (which they should, they deserve all the praise they get) and forget about ALL, in specific “Pummel” which is all around a masterpiece in my eyes. Anytime I’ve played “Pummel” for someone they end up buying the cd within a few days and realize how lame they were for not owning it before, haha. Of course Jon Snodgrass is no slouch either in the vocal department. Drag The River just sound so genuine and pure to me, it’s refreshing to hear artists creating music without paying attention to fads and trends (which is in all honesty is the thing I love about the entire SH roster). I will have to make sure to either get the night off, call in sick, or quit my job on April 19th when Drag The River plays here in Portland with Rocky Votolato. I can’t miss that one for sure.

Now, the new Love Me Destroyer exceeded all expectations and they were high to start with. I loved “Black Heart Affair” (and kicked myself for not including a song of theirs on my mixtape) and the new one has been the most played album on my stereo, ipod, or just me singing (terribly mind you) whatever song off the album is stuck in my head. It seems everyday my favorite track changes, but all of them are incredible. My friend sings in a local metal band here in Portland and even he was digging these songs when I played them in the car for him (not that he is close minded musically, I just think it speaks volumes that there is something for everyone to dig on this album). I mean it’s kind of insane because the year has only started, but I can’t imagine this not being in my top ten favorite records of this year. I hope to God word of mouth spreads on this album because it’s essential listening. Speaking of essential I finally ordered The Gamits “Golden Sometimes” box set and it’s really cool. I listened to all 4 cds this morning (I had only heard “Antidote”) and was bouncing around like I’d just drank a whole pot of coffee! The packaging is beautiful and the liner notes are written so well. I apologize for the long gushing e-mail, I was just really excited to hear all these albums and wanted to say many thanks again. By the way I love IndieHQ, it’s always on my list of websites I check out daily, very informative. You guys all take care.

Lee
