Love Me Destroyer and Drag The River in stores today!

Today is a big day. Today, Tuesday, January 30th, 2007, we have two new releases in stores today:

Love Me Destroyer “The Things Around Us Burn” CD

Drag the River “Closed” Re-release CD

Being that we are a very small label, our records are not in all stores. Some of the places where you can find our records are:

Online destinations like Interpunk, Amazon, and Smartpunk

Digital retailers like Itunes, Emusic, Rhapsody, and the like

Chains (Virgin and Borders)

Regional chains (Newbury (MA), Exclusive Co (WI), Electric Fetus (MN), Angelo’s (CO), Bull Moose (NH/ME), Dimple (CA), Record and Tape Traders (MD), Gray Whale (UT), Gallery of Sound (PA), Zia (AZ), Amoeba (CA), and more)

Mom and pops (Twist and Shout(CO), Albums on the Hill(CO), Wax Trax(CO), Crossroads (VA), Everyday Music (OR), Looney Tunes(NY), Park Ave (FL), Record Theater (NY), Barts CD Cellar (CO), Easy Street (WA), Music Millennium (OR), and Salzers (CA).

There should be other mom and pops carrying it, but the ones above are ones I am certain should have our titles. Please consider buying our releases at independent shops as they are having a harder time than ever.

We sometimes have our releases in bigger chains, but the chains really don’t care about our releases like independent retailers do.

Please help us out by telling your friends about our releases and if you see a store that isn’t carrying our titles, please tell them to consider doing so. And if you really want to help us spread the word, email info@suburbanhomerecords.com your name and mailing address and we will send you 5 Suburban Home samplers to pass around.

Thanks for all of your support. We would not be here if it weren’t for the support of independent music fans from all over the world.

Sean Michael and Kevin call from Vegas

Sean Michael from the Vegas Bowling Tournament
Kevin Wade from the Vegas Bowling Tournament

One of my highlights at this year’s Vegas Tournament was getting to meet Sean Michael of Mammoth Press and to hang out with Kevin Wade again. Those two guys are two of our biggest supporters of the drunk dial hotline and great guys to boot. I thought it made the most sense to post drunk dials from both of them over the weekend since they called within minutes of each other. I will also add that Sean Michael also drunk dialed our hotel room voicemail, and I would have been able to record that if my computer didn’t explode a few days before. OH well. I found it funny that it was mentioned that our little hotel party was going to be like Michael Scott’s from the Office’s party he had when only a few people showed up. Thanks guys.

Drag the River video for “Me and Joe Went Down to California”

I still need to find out all of the info about this, but Kyle just told me about a Drag the River video on YouTube. We are not sure who did it or what, but in either case, we thought we would share it with you. The video is a pretty cool edit from Drag live performances. Here is what Jon Snodgrass of Drag had to say about the video, “Our friend Mike Williamson filmed this with one camera. He shot a whole show one night in L.A. like that and faked it. He did pretty good.”

Stream LMD’s “The Things Around us Burn” at Absolute Punk dot net

Although you have to register for an account (it’s free), if you do so, you can stream Love Me Destroyer’s new album, “The Things Around us Burn”. You can stream the album on LMD’s profile page at AP.net. We were told that the stream would be an exclusive on AbsolutePunk.net, but when they set it up, they only set it up as a stream. And have since not been returning my emails. If anyone knows Garrett or Jason, can you ask them what’s up? In either case, check out their new album. I think it is their best yet and I hope everyone gets a chance to listen.

Love Me Destroyer featured on Century Club Podcast

Our good friend, Justin Hackl, formerly of  the Blackout Pact recently started a podcast. The podcast is called the Century Club Podcast and for you beer drinkers out there, you know that the Century Club is where you drink 100 shots of beer and I think the guys did a shot every minute. Justin said that equaled around 12 beers in an hour and 40 minutes. His partner, John ended up puking when the show was done. In between their beer drinking, they play a number of tracks including songs by the White Kaps (blast from the past), Love Me Destroyer, Minus the Bear, Propagandhi, Pinback, Down By Law, Isis, and more. I am listening right now and it sounds great. You can subscribe to their podcast through Itunes by going to their myspace page. Check it out. Justin is a funny dude and he has always had diverse taste in music.

Drunk Dial – more freestyle rapping from a frequent Drunk Dialer

“Gonna make my Twinkie brown” 1/19/07 1:13 a.m. The O.C. - I originally thought that this was a call from Suburban Home’s Joey Bullock while wasted at the Vegas punk rock bowling tournament. I sent out the drunk dial mp3 to members of the Grey Flight and Suburban Home crews to figure it out. Zach Grey Flight was so kind as to say that it was Robert of South of No North who has also been responsible for like a quarter of all of our drunk dials. Well, the call is another freestyle rap with very descriptive lyrics about performing sodomy on yours truly. I guess I should be flattered? In either case, thanks for the call and keep em coming!

Drunk Dial: I think I might have puked in your Bidet

“But I cleaned it up and got rid of the evidence” 1/21/07 2 a.m. Las Vegas, NV - We threw a little shindig in our room on Friday night in Vegas. We rented a suite this year and in the suite was a bidet. At some point at our party when Kyle was forcing everyone to do shots of Jager, our good friend Casey, of the No Coast Punk Rock Bowling Team, did a few too many shots and had the urge to puke. He had the wherewithal to find our bathroom, but when confronted with a toilet and a bidet, he puked in the bidet which is absolutely hilarious. As he mentions in his call, he cleaned it all up and got rid of the evidence. Good times!
